APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS:

As the weather warms up the creepy crawlers start to come out of hibernation. Flea and tick preventatives should be started as soon as the ground is warming up especially for animals with flea allergies.  Even indoor pets may need to be protected as flea eggs and ticks can stick to people and their clothing to be brought inside.

COMMERCIAL BREAK:

Due to price increases and companies requiring bulk buying of their product, we have reduced our inventory of flea and tick preventatives to mostly Frontline and Promeris.  In order to keep prices down for you, we only carry a small amount of a few other products. If you would like to try another treatment or have questions about other treatments please let us know.

IN OTHER WORDS:

Even the tiniest poodle is lionhearted, ready to do anything to defend home, master, and mistress."
   -Louis Sabin

Over-The-Counter (OTC) Flea and Tick Preventatives

There are always questions about why prescription flea and tick preventatives are so expensive in a vet hospital versus in the store.  The main ingredient in most OTC meds is Pyrtherins.  This chemical has been approved for years for treatment and prevention of fleas and some ticks.  The main concern is that it can be toxic to some animals leading to tremors, uncoordination, seizures, and even death.  If you choose to use the OTC product please read the directions very carefully and be sure you are using the correct size for your pet.

MUSICAL FACT:

At the end of the Beatles' song "A Day in the Life", an ultrasonic whistle, audible only to dogs, was recorded by Paul McCartney for his Shetland sheepdog.
